Week 7 Power Rankings

Week 7 Power Rankings

Seven weeks. Zero losses. Must be nice.

While the rest of us mere mortals wake up on Tuesday, open the fantasy app, and scowl at our underperforming squads, Geoff just sees confetti. Coming off a Worst League title, the man hasn’t lost a fantasy matchup since December 9, 2024. Joe Biden was still president!

And if we go back to Week 10 of last year, Geoff has now won 14 of his last 15 games. Sheesh. Do you even remember what it’s like to lose?

This is easily the best start of his career. His previous best start came at 5-2 in 2016 (his first championship season) and again in 2021 (when he wound up in the consolation game). But this? Uncharted territory. Geoff is the first team owner ever to start a season 7-0.

For context: Gray began our inaugural 2011 season 6-0 and finished 11-2, still tied for the best regular-season win percentage in league history—a feat he repeated in 2016. Samantha (2024) and Erik (2023) also reached 11 regular season wins, with Erik setting the all-time record of 13 with his first championship two years ago. All those records are now within Geoff’s reach.

And speaking of records—Geoff now holds the longest winning streak in league history. Counting last season’s playoffs, he’s riding a 10-game heater. The longest single-season streak still belongs to Gray, who rattled off nine straight in 2016. But Geoff’s already surpassed that mark overall, and there’s no sign of him slowing down.

It’s early, and every season has its swoons, but right now this team is elite. He currently ranks fourth all-time in TW% (behind only Gray’s 2016 GOAT squad, Alex’s Thanos team and Gray’s 2011 record-setting debut) and first in points—on pace to break Beth Ann’s single-season scoring record from 2021.

The secret? Pure, unrelenting talent. Christian McCaffrey, once a Week 1 injury concern, has been sensational. Drafted sixth overall—behind Chase, Bijan, Barkley (oof), Gibbs, and Jefferson—CMC now leads all players in fantasy points, QBs included. Speaking of QBs, Baker Mayfield is somehow an early-season MVP candidate. Jake Ferguson was a Round 11 steal as TE1. Meanwhile, Ladd McConkey’s resurgence has turned him into a legit WR1 alongside Drake London and—oh yeah—Rashee Rice, who returned in Week 7 and was targeted on a ridiculous 52.6% of his routes. The only weakness? James Conner’s injury has forced Woody Marks into RB2 duty. But man, talk about first-world problems.

Can he run the table? It would be an incredible feat. The tougher part of his schedule looms with matchups against Samantha, Chelsie, and Jess—three contenders likely bound for the postseason.

But for now, it’s Geoff’s world. We’re all just gettin’ Ls in it.

The Power Rankings

Geoff retains his hold on the top spot for the second week in a row.

Finishing just a few points shy of the weekly prize, Geoff extended his lead over Samantha for the top spot in the Power Rankings. But we’ve already sung his praises enough this week. So let’s focus on the action everywhere else:

  • So much for Samantha’s performance taking a dip after injuries to Garrett Wilson and Emeka Egbuka. She easily beat Kelly, and the best news? Egbuka actually played. One of the league’s top aerial attacks looks back near full strength.

  • Chelsie continues to soar with her second straight weekly prize. Third of the year. Her WRs alone scored 75.1 points—and that’s with DeVonta Smith (33.3) on the bench. A few weeks ago, the top tier was Geoff, Samantha, and Greco. Now? I would replace Greco with Chelsie in that group.

  • Erik moves up a spot but drops to 2-5 after another unlucky loss, this time to Beth Ann. His TW% says he should be 4-3, not 2-5. But it’s getting late early—2-5 teams make the playoffs just 13% of the time. Hurry back, Puka Nacua.

  • Jess picked the right week to trade for A.J. Brown (season-high 28.1 points), especially with Mike Evans possibly done for the year. The cost was steep (Quinshon Judkins had 3 TDs), but Jess is the one team owner with the RB depth to pull that off. This week, she has a big matchup with Chelsie—two likely playoff squads.

  • After Jess, it’s a sea of mediocrity. Four teams are tied for sixth at .429 TW%. Yuck. And the three behind them aren’t far off.

  • The Power Rankings Jinx strikes again! After praising Alex’s WRs in Week 6, they combined for just 25 points in Week 7. Now Nico Collins and Brian Thomas Jr. are both on bye for Week 8 in a juicy matchup with Gray.

  • Quietly the worst team in the league over the past three weeks, Greco has scored just 104.0 ppg with a brutal .152 TW% over that time. Not coincidentally, that slide started when Bucky Irving and Chuba Hubbard went down.

  • Josh is in full freefall—four straight losses after starting 2-1, matching his career-long losing streak from 2016. That year, he started 4-1 before collapsing to 5-7. He’s shopping Josh Allen, but so far, no takers.

  • Kelly is statistically the worst of the 4-3 teams after another worst-of-the-week showing. She scored just 89.28 in Week 7 and ranks last in scoring (109.3 ppg) for the season. This week, she faces Greco in a matchup to determine who is the real paper tiger.

  • Now for some good news. Gray sapped a three-game skid with a win over Josh. The trade for Quinshon Judkins might finally free him from Kenneth Walker (RB24). With Judkins, J.K. Dobbins, and Kimani Vidal, plus Amon-Ra St. Brown and Courtland Sutton, this team could make a sneaky second-half run. Definitely my dark horse fave.

  • Anyone else notice Brandon just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic—alternating between Chris Moore and Luke McCaffrey as WR2. Barf! On the bright side, maybe Travis Hunter’s 24.1 breakout is real. Too bad he’s on bye in Week 8. At least basketball season’s starting soon.

  • Finally, Beth Ann showed signs of life with her best game of the year, scoring 130.24 points to snap her three-game skid. Gibbs’ 36.8 on Monday night sealed the comeback, but he’s out in Week 8—and she faces Geoff. Not great, Bob! Historically, Beth Ann either soars or sinks: three top-3 finishes in the final Power Rankings, three bottom-3 finishes. I’ll give you one guess what this year is looking like.

As we reach the halfway point of the season, we can finally squint and start to see the playoff picture forming. Based on historical standings, Geoff, Samantha, and Jess all look to be in great shape. There’s no precedent for a 7-0 team, but Geoff probably needs just one more win over the next seven weeks to clinch. Meanwhile, 5-2 teams like Samantha and Jess make the playoffs 95% of the time.

That leaves the rest of the league’s nine teams battling for just three open spots. Chelsie, Greco, Kelly, and Alex are in the thick of the hunt, while a wave of 2-5 teams still has hope. Normally that record would be a death sentence, but with so many teams clustered together, it’s realistic that a 7-7 finish—or even 6-8 with strong points for—could sneak into the playoffs. We’ll dig deeper into those odds soon.

For now, everyone’s in survival mode. Week 8 brings Bye-mageddon, with multiple fantasy-rich rosters on bye. But no one thrives in chaos like Gray—his career TW% jumps from .550 to .635 during bye weeks. On the flip side, Josh’s plummets from .568 to .504.

With half the season to go, only two things feel certain: chaos will reign… and Geoff will probably win.
