Week 2 Power Rankings
Receivers finally caught a break in Week 2.
After a sluggish opener, several early-round wideouts flashed their explosive bona fides. (Sorry, not you, Brian Thomas Jr. and A.J. Brown.)
Last week, we noted how over half of the WRs drafted in the first three rounds failed to hit double digits in Week 1. Seven days later, Amon-Ra St. Brown (39.2), Malik Nabers (37.7) and Ja’Marr Chase (36.5) led all players in scoring, with Davante Adams (22.6) back in the WR top-10.
That should’ve been good news. Instead, all four of their team owners—Gray, Brandon, Josh and Beth Ann—took Ls. Worse for Josh, Joe Burrow’s essentially season-ending injury lowers the ceiling for his No. 1 overall pick, Chase.
But don’t lose heart. One manager showing early resilience is Chelsie, who vaulted five spots to No. 3 in this week’s Power Rankings. Despite losing fourth-rounder George Kittle in Week 1, she actually scored more points at TE thanks to a 24.4-point breakout from ninth-round steal Tucker Kraft.
And he wasn’t alone. Every one of Chelsie’s seven skill players hit double digits. Her 36 team receptions—including eight from PPR machine De’Von Achane—powered 171.86 points, the second-highest total of her career. That was still several points shy of her 190-point Week 8 outburst in 2022…also against Gray. She must really hate that guy.
But while Gray had the week’s highest scorer and Chelsie led the league in points, neither sits atop this week’s Power Rankings. So who does?
The Power Rankings
Samantha leads a tightly bunched group at the top.
It’s Samantha!
She stays on top for the second straight week to open the season—and the third in a row dating back to last year’s regular season finale. The week’s biggest climber was Chelsie, jumping five spots into third place. Jess also leapt four spots into the top half of the rankings. Meanwhile Brandon and Gray—both 0-2—actually moved up despite unlucky matchups with two of Week 2’s highest scorers.
On the flip side, Kelly took the hardest fall. After a spectacular Week 1 debut, her squad bottomed out with the fewest points of Week 2. Other sliders included Geoff, Josh and Erik. And Alex? A #blessed 2-0 with just six true wins, but two of those came exactly when the schedule called for them.
I meant to drop these rankings sooner (and with a meatier write-up), but Week 3 is already in the rear view. So consider this the official Week 2 record—and a promise to be faster next time.
